Yesterday, I predicted the Florida Gators would beat the Cardinals 27 – 17. I have never been so happy to be wrong in my life!
Congrats to Charlie Strong, Teddy Bridgewater, and the rest of the Cardinal football family. That was a great win for them and for the future of the program.
Some may even say that it is the biggest win in the history of the program. I would disagree with that, but I can see how that argument could be made.
For me, the biggest win will always be the Fiesta Bowl over Alabama. That game gave the ring of truth to what Howard Schnellenberger had been telling Cardinal fans for years. That they could not only compete with the best, but they could win.
Last night furthers that line of thinking by proving that 1991 was not a fluke. They really can compete. They really can win.
Now I just hope Charlie Strong sticks around long enough to make Schnelly’s other statement true as well. “(We) are on a collision course with the national championship. The only variable is time.”
Congrats Cards! L1C4!!
